CAMP HIDDEN ROCK

Where Faith Meets the Mountains
Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia
Off the Pocahontas Trail, in Rock, West Virginia, lies a special place set apart for ministry, fellowship, learning, service, and spiritual renewal.
Welcome to Camp Hidden Rock.
WELCOME TO CAMP HIDDEN ROCK
Camp Hidden Rock is a special property established by Steelecroft Church as a place where people can gather, grow in faith, serve others, and experience fellowship in the midst of God’s creation.
This property was acquired and established to provide a setting where people can come together for:
- Worship
- Bible study and discipleship
- Fellowship
- Prayer
- Spiritual renewal and reflection
- Seminars and educational workshops
- Ministry retreats
- Family and community gatherings
- Service and ministry projects
- Outdoor educational opportunities
Camp Hidden Rock provides a peaceful setting away from the noise and distractions of everyday life—a place where God’s Word can be studied, friendships can be formed, faith can be strengthened, and people can simply slow down and reflect.
Much of the property remains in its natural state, allowing the surrounding woods, mountains, wildlife, and night sky to become part of the experience.
Here, ministry can happen beneath the trees.
Around a campfire.
Beside a trail.
Under a sky filled with stars.
And wherever people gather together in faith.
Here, we believe church is not limited to a building.
Sometimes, the cathedral has no walls.
A PLACE SET APART
Camp Hidden Rock was established with a simple purpose:
To create a place where people can gather in God’s creation and grow in their relationship with Him and with one another.
We believe there is value in stepping away from the pace of modern life and making room for worship, prayer, Scripture, conversation, learning, and reflection.
The property provides a setting for both planned ministry events and the quieter moments that often become the most meaningful.
A Bible opened beneath the trees.
A prayer shared around a fire.
A conversation that continues long after a gathering has ended.
A family enjoying time together.
A person sitting quietly beneath the stars.
These moments are part of ministry, too.
WORSHIP IN THE WOODS

UNDER THE STARS
The Heavens Declare
One of the unique experiences here at Camp Hidden Rock is Under the Stars, a Bible study and stargazing series centered on the wonder of God’s creation.
Far from the lights and distractions of the city, the Appalachian night sky provides an extraordinary setting for looking upward and reflecting on Scripture.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” — Psalm 19:1
Through Bible study, guided stargazing, Scripture, prayer, and fellowship, Under the Stars invites participants to consider the God who created the heavens and placed the stars in their courses.
Look up. Wonder. Worship.
LEARNING & GROWING
Camp Hidden Rock is also a place for learning.
Our gatherings include seminars, workshops, educational programs, and practical instruction that support the spiritual and practical growth of individuals, families, volunteers, and ministry participants.
Topics may include:
- Christian discipleship
- Biblical studies
- Family preparedness
- Emergency preparedness
- Wilderness awareness
- First aid and emergency readiness
- Leadership and service
- Ministry and community outreach
- Stewardship
- Outdoor education
We believe that learning is part of discipleship—and that the knowledge and abilities God gives us can be used to serve others.
A PLACE FOR FELLOWSHIP
Some of the most important ministry moments cannot be scheduled.
They happen when people sit around a table.
When a campfire keeps burning and conversation continues.
When someone shares a testimony.
When a question leads to a deeper conversation about faith.
When families spend uninterrupted time together.
Camp Hidden Rock is intended to provide room for those moments.
Come gather. Come listen. Come learn. Come share.
A PLACE TO SERVE
Camp Hidden Rock also provides opportunities for people to put faith into action.
As the property and its ministry programs develop, service opportunities may include stewardship projects, property workdays, ministry preparation, community outreach, educational activities, and other projects that support the work of Steelecroft Church.
We believe ministry is not only something we attend.
It is something we do.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” — Ephesians 2:10
THE BEAUTY OF GOD’S CREATION
The Appalachian Mountains provide more than a beautiful backdrop for Camp Hidden Rock.
They are part of the experience.
The woods.
The trails.
The changing seasons.
The sounds of wildlife.
The mountain air.
The evening sky.
Much of the property has intentionally been left in its natural state, allowing visitors to experience the peace and beauty of God’s creation while participating in ministry.
The natural setting gives us another opportunity to remember the words of the Psalmist:
“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained…” — Psalm 8:3
Creation points us toward the Creator.
THE MEANING OF HIDDEN ROCK
The name Camp Hidden Rock carries meaning for us.
Hidden speaks to a place set apart—a place removed from the noise of everyday life where people can slow down, seek God, and find quiet moments of reflection.
Rock speaks to the steadfastness of God.
Throughout Scripture, God is described as our Rock, our refuge, our strength, and our foundation.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer…” — Psalm 18:2
Together, Hidden Rock represents the kind of place we hope this property will always be:
A place set apart, grounded in faith, and anchored in God.
